We shouldn’t lose the most charismatic little village: Ossera, with the artisans who have been practising their art from many years ago, making delicious products: Núria’s marmelades, wich combines with one of the best goat cheese in the world: Serrat Gros. Children can see and touch the alpine goats. Artists like Jaume and Nico, show us their paintings and sculptures inspired by the altitude … and we can also visit the Suzette’s small shop with a thousand aromas of herbs and flowers from these mountains.
From Ossera we can do a very easy excursion for the whole family, as we discover the regional plants.
The information point of Lavansa, in Sorribes, has a magnificent view of the Valley, and we can be informed about the different excursions; low difficulty excursions: Sant Julià dels Garrics, Ossera, the Masies, or longer ones: tour of Sisquer and Sant Julià, rise to Larp, rise to Fórnols, or towards the Cadí range of mountains.
In the Molí de Fórnols, just 3 km away from the house, we find a swimming pool in the summer, a park for children, a restaurant and the Bird’s park, a good ornithological observatory. www.elsmoixons.com
Tuixent is the village 8 Km from the house, where we find the Museum and the garden of the Trementinaires, the Flora’s centre of the Natural Park of Cadí-Moixeró, little shops and restaurants. www.trementinaires.org
Josa del Cadí will surprise us with its past related to Cathar community, from Josa you see the southern slope of the Cadí. You shouldn’t leave it without tasting the best cuisine of l’Alt Urgell.
In winter in the Tuixent-Lavansa ski resort, we can climb the Tossa with snowshoes, from where we can contemplate from the Pyrenees to Montserrat, or skiing along Prat Llong. On the other side of the range of mountain there is the Alpine Ski resort of Port del Compte. www.tuixent-lavansa.com
Anyway, the most valuable thing of the valley is protected within the chapels: the altarpiece of sant Julià and the altarpiece of St. Martí in Ossera, wich are gothic altarpieces found in these churches and restored a few years ago.It will amaze us, specially for where they are placed .
We shouldn’t forget the main activity: to enjoy the mountain-style cuisine in the restaurants of the Valley.
And if we don’t have enough with it …
Gósol (near the Pedraforca mountain, the Picasso village) and Sant Llorenç de Morunys (where you can practise canoeing in la Llosa del Cavall), we have them in half an hour. www.kayakk1.es
La Seu d’Urgell: the pre-Pyrenean capital, with the Segre Olympic Park, the old town with the majestic Romanesque cathedral, the traditional market and the refreshing boulevard “el passeig”, 30 km away from cal Pallerola.
